In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month this April, five Birmingham-area organizations serving individuals with autism are coming together to promote a simple but meaningful way for the community to show support.
Glenwood, Mitchell’s Place, KultureCity®, Autism Support of Alabama, and Autessence – Formerly Triumph Center have partnered to launch the Autism Acceptance Mailbox Bow Campaign, a community initiative that encourages residents and businesses to display decorative mailbox bows and yard signs throughout April.
The campaign provides a visible way for neighborhoods across the region to demonstrate their commitment to acceptance, inclusion, and understanding for individuals with autism and other behavioral health needs.
Participants can purchase an Autism Acceptance mailbox bow paired with a coordinating yard sign to display at their home or business during Autism Acceptance Month.
Pre-orders for the bows and signs will be accepted March 9 through March 25, 2026.
“This collaboration is what autism acceptance is all about,” said Justin Ragland, Marketing and Communications Director at Glenwood. “It reflects inclusiveness, community partnership, and the shared belief that individuals with autism and other behavioral health needs deserve to feel supported, understood, and valued.”
While the campaign helps raise awareness, it also supports the important work each participating organization provides to the community. Proceeds from the campaign will benefit programs and services that assist individuals with autism and their families across Alabama.
By displaying a mailbox bow and yard sign, community members can help spark conversations about acceptance and show their support for creating a more inclusive community for everyone.
