Summer Teacher Training Workshop for Educators

Glenwood is excited to host its annual Summer Teacher Training Workshop, a comprehensive 3-day program designed to provide educators with effective strategies for supporting students with autism and behavioral disorders. The workshop will take place at Harper Chapel at Glenwood’s Sicard Hollow location and offers two session options: June 22-24, 2026, and July 27-29, 2026.  All sessions are 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.

This immersive training experience will equip teachers, administrators, and educational support staff with essential tools to enhance student success in both classroom and individualized settings. Attendees will participate in engaging discussions and hands-on learning focused on critical topics, including:

  • Student Motivation – Explore strategies to inspire engagement and foster intrinsic motivation in students with autism and behavioral challenges, helping them participate fully in learning activities.
  • Behavior Management – Learn proactive and reactive techniques to support positive behavior, reduce disruptions, and create structured, predictable learning environments.
  • Assent-Based Learning – Understand how to involve students in the learning process by gaining their cooperation and agreement, promoting autonomy, and reinforcing participation.
  • Increasing Communication – Discover methods to enhance expressive and receptive communication skills, including verbal, nonverbal, and alternative communication strategies tailored to each student’s needs.

With a focus on practical application, Glenwood’s expert instructors will guide participants through evidence-based strategies that can be immediately implemented in their classrooms. The workshop is ideal for professionals working in special education, general education, behavioral therapy, and administrative roles.
