Train With Us
Glenwood, is a leader and expert in the autism field, with over 40 years in the field. We offer a variety of courses that equip educators, professionals, and parents with research-based tools to help them support individuals with autism and other behavioral health needs.
Consultation and Training for Educators
We contract with area school systems and the Alabama Department of Education to assist teachers and other faculty. We offer seminars both on our campus and at your location depending on your needs.
Teacher Training
Teachers learn practical classroom strategies for students on the autism spectrum. Training covers classroom design, communication strategies, social skills instruction, reinforcement assessments and more. Classes take place over three days in summer.

Glenwood Summer Teacher Training Workshops
Join us each summer for Glenwood’s immersive 3-day teacher workshops, where educators will explore effective strategies and best practices for supporting students with autism and behavioral disorders. Hosted at Glenwood’s Harper Chapel, the workshops offer two, three-day session options with valuable insights through engaging discussions on a variety of topics, including:
- Student Motivation – Explore strategies to inspire engagement and foster intrinsic motivation in students with autism and behavioral challenges, helping them participate fully in learning activities.
- Behavior Management – Learn proactive and reactive techniques to support positive behavior, reduce disruptions, and create structured, predictable learning environments.
- Assent-Based Learning – Understand how to involve students in the learning process by gaining their cooperation and agreement, promoting autonomy, and reinforcing participation.
- Increasing Communication – Discover methods to enhance expressive and receptive communication skills, including verbal, nonverbal, and alternative communication strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
