Adult Residential Care

Glenwood opened its first adult residential home in 1994 and over the years has expanded to meet the growing community needs. Currently, we’re providing 24-hour residential care in the Birmingham area in more than twenty-homes for adults with autism or intellectual disabilities. Residents learn independent living skills at all levels of care.

Our residential homes house individuals with autism, intellectual disorders, or developmental delays. Our homes are located throughout the Birmingham-Metro community. The Residential program operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The primary focus of our program is to enable our individuals to live life to their fullest potential.

Each individual has an individualized person-centered plan of care that drives their treatment. These plans are unique to the individual and capture their wants, needs, abilities and preferences.  Through the individual’s eyes, we assist them in developing their skills and talents to reach their personal goals. Daily living instruction focuses on building important skills for social interactions and positive relationships, effective communication, community living, and self-care.
