Dr. Mary-Kate Carey, Director of the Children’s Center, will lead a three-part training series focused on how to manage and respond to challenging behavior by individuals with an autism spectrum disorder in the home. The class will be interactive, and parents will develop an individual behavior management plan for their child that includes strategies for responding to problem behavior in the moment as well as long-term strategies for teaching appropriate, functional replacement behaviors. Additionally, parents will learn the basics of applied behavior analysis and how to apply the principles of positive reinforcement to problem behavior.
