Norman and Cathy McNeill, founders of the McNeill Financial Services Golf Tournament benefiting Glenwood, Inc., played in the fifth annual event at Riverchase County Club.
They applauded winners Steve Fant and Mike Fant of Chelsea, Neal Allen of Clay-Chalkville and Ken Jenkins of Hoover, who applauded the McNeills.
All of the golfers were feted at an awards party following play. Winners received Glenwood Holiday Pecans and gift baskets filled with natural food items, fresh fruit, and organic wines from Harvest Glen Market in Crestline, Glenwood’s vocational program.
The luncheon buffet of chicken fingers, wings, chips, and dips was also enjoyed by second-place team members Ryan Lynn (Closest to the pin on No. 12), and Chris Lee of Bessemer and Pete Pool and Brian Pool of Trussville (Longest drive on No. 7) sponsored by David Norton of Alarm Engineers of Pinson.
More golfers spotted were Dick Quinn of Vestavia Hills, Bobby Boyd of Inverness, Greg Bendall, Lee Harper, and Steve Fondots of Hoover and Mike Bryan and Cory Pugh of Atlanta. The McNeills of McNeill Financial thanked the golfers on behalf fo the young adults at Glenwood, including their son Chris, who was diagnosed with autism at a young age by Dr. Allan Cott for whom Glenwood’s Allan Cott School is named. Chris lives in a home at Glenwood. They said he’s learning to be more independent and frequently visits his parents’ home.
Special guests coming out from Glenwood included Joe Carter, vice president of adult services; residential coordinator Vicki Trawick and instructor Ossia Horn; resource development director Rebecca Sibley; and several young adult residents who attend vocational classes.
